Fliteboarding amidst Tasmania’s untamed beauty

Tasmania’s beauty is renowned. Rugged coastlines, crystal-clear water, and a sense of remoteness that makes you feel outside of time. The perfect setting for a group of talented and passionate Fliteboarders to go on a multi-day adventure.

Rob Bell, former Flite MD, wanted to organise this experience for a while. Evidently the time was right, because everything came together perfectly, including the weather. A mixture of moody, overcast stretches and sunny days with light wind meant the crew could enjoy scenes straight out of a movie.

The journey started from Launceston, with a two-hour drive to the Larapuna / Bay of Fires area. With striking orange lichen-covered granite boulders, white sand and azure seas, this is the kind of place you might visit in a dream. After a stunning eFoiling session, it was off to Binalong Bay for a couple nights.

Secluded coves, untouched stretches of beach and small rolling swells meant no one wanted to get out by the end of the second day. A quick swap of batteries, and everyone happily kept riding. These are the kind of moments that leave an impression, and keep so many coming back for that next Fliteboard session. It’s a feeling so pure, so connected, it’s hard to describe.

On the third day, they headed to Coles Bay and Hazards Beach, then Pirates Bay with its towering cliffs and deep blue waters. Then, the final morning had them riding in Fortescue Bay. There is something very powerful about this place, from the backdrop, to the swell, to the dark blue depths below. Needless to say, this footage is special.

The trip wrapped up with a ride up The River Derwant to Hobart, with breathtaking scenery. The crew headed up Kunanyi / Mount Wellington at sunset, to say farewell to the coastline they had just travelled. In Rob’s words: "A great crew, dramatic remote locations and amazing weather made this Flite adventure special."

This is a foiling trip that none of them will forget and dare we say, it won’t be the last.
