Propeller vs Jet

At Flite, we are relentless in our pursuit of innovation. Fliteboarding (or eFoiling) is evolving as a sport, and our engineers are obsessed with developing new technologies that offer benefits to different types of riders in different conditions. Our customers are pioneers too, and many want to expand their Fliteboard experience and try new ways of riding.  

We offer two base propulsion options:  

1. Propeller propulsion (Flite Prop, True Glide, Flite Folding Prop and MN Wave Folding Prop) 
2. Jet propulsion (Flite Jet 2 with optional RACE impeller for top speeds) 

Flite Jet 2 

Flite Jet 2 is our most efficient jet option, for our best ever ride. Designed in partnership with Mercury Marine this revolutionary system is smoother, quieter, more responsive and more powerful. It forms part of our Jet C eFoil system. 

• The Flite Jet impeller is completely shielded, which removes the potential for a propeller injury.
• The small diameter impeller allows for increased manoeuvrability compared to Flite Prop.  

Note: Flite Jet 2 consumes more power than propeller systems, so expect reduced efficiency and thrust with Flite Jet 2 compared to Flite Prop and True Glide. See the Ride Time Calculator for more details on estimated ride times.

Best wings with Flite Jet 2 

All of our wings have been designed to be ridden with Flite Jet 2. The Cruiser / Cruiser Jet range is our most popular for beginners. Then advance to faster, looser wings. 

Best Flitecell with Flite Jet 2

All of our batteries can be used with Flite Jet 2. Choose Flitecell Explore for long rides or if you are a heavier rider. If you prefer to compromise ride time to benefit from a lighter set-up (or you are a lighter weight rider) choose Flitecell Sport or Nano.  

Flite Jet 2 with RACE impeller 

Designed in collaboration with the performance experts at Mercury Racing, the precision CNC red anodised aluminium impeller can reach speeds up to 55km/h/34mph when paired with Flite Jet 2 in a full RACE setup. Feel the power with fewer gear changes and bigger power steps through every shift. Designed to be most efficient at high speeds, experience razor-sharp control as you slice through the water. RACE impeller can be fitted to Jet C and MN Carbon Jet C eFoil systems. It is not compatible with the original Flite Jet or with Flite Prop. 

Best wings with RACE impeller 

Our RACE wing of choice is Flux_707 though we also enjoy Flux_808 for confident high-speed control. 

Best Flitecell with RACE impeller 

All of our batteries can be used with RACE impeller, however we recommend Flitecell Explore, which extends ride time, maintains higher voltage under load and drives higher RPMs.  

Flite Propeller 

 Flite Prop is our most versatile option. It offers a balanced mix of efficiency, thrust and safety (when using the Prop Guard that comes standard). It forms part of our Prop C eFoil system. 

• Riders will enjoy the efficiency of this system that uses our unique reduction gearbox and propeller design. Together, they provide long rides and allow the use of smaller and lighter batteries.
• Beginners will enjoy peace of mind knowing that the propeller is protected from most types of impacts.
• Heavier riders will benefit from maximum thrust provided by our reduction gearbox that quadruples the torque of the motor to get heavier riders up and foiling quickly with minimum battery power. 
• Flite Prop works perfectly with Virtual Gears to help riders learn quickly, and maintain constant speed with Cruise Control.

True Glide Prop

With identical performance to Flite Prop, True Glide Prop is designed for smooth transitions between powered and powered-off riding. Its free-spinning propeller minimises drag and provides an incredibly smooth glide when catching waves and riding swell. Power back out after your wave to catch the next set. Use with Pro Tail Cover, included with Prop C eFoil system.

Best wings with True Glide 

For riding waves unpowered, we recommend the Flow, Flow S and Flux range. If you’re just learning to catch waves, are a heavier rider or riding smaller waves, Cruiser Jet wings offer exceptional glide at low speeds.

Best Flitecell with True Glide 

Flitecell Nano is the world’s lightest eFoil battery, making it the perfect choice for carving hard and tight turns. Its position towards the mast contributes to minimal swing weight. Flite Folding Prop and MN Wave Folding Prop 

Designed for wave enthusiasts who want maximum glide efficiency with minimal drag. The innovative propeller folds like a fish tail when the throttle is released, creating a streamlined profile that reduces resistance and allows for smooth, effortless riding that harnesses the power of the swell. Pair Flite Folding Prop with Prop C eFoil. Use with Pro Tail Cover, included with Prop C eFoil system. MN Wave Folding Prop forms part of the MN Carbon Wave C eFoil system.
